Really enjoy these posts about these "mundane" occurences and locations, because otherwise frankly I would never read in a paper or think about rural China, or actual village life, which is humbling.

I think they don't need to develop it more. It's nature, not a city. If you want to hike, you go here. If you want to see developed infrastructure, you go to big cities
